Today I have on no make-up. I am at work, so the general public gets to see a 50 year old woman, with grey hair (and some blonde bits at the end where it is still growing out), wrinkles and a scary face….. As I get older, make-up seems to look a lot harsher. I suppose it is because our skin and our hair lighten and it contrasts the make-up more. Fortunately for me, my husband likes the ‘scary fresh look’, so he seems impervious to whether I have make-up on, or not. I will make a point of watching people’s expressions here at the office. Some will visibly cringe, others will try to not show that they are looking, but they will, just like the guys on tv that are NOT supposed to look into the camera, but can’t help themselves. The upside of this is that if I tell everyone I have a splitting headache, they will then feel comfortable telling me how awful I look, and I will be encouraged to leave early as I am ‘under the weather’……
