On Friday, a very dear friend of mine died. He was 75, and had been in poor health for the past 25 years. But he was one of the smartest people I think I have ever had the good fortune to meet. Milt had a wicked sense of humour, and a sharp eye for the ladies – by the time he was in his 50’s, the paralysis he had on the left side of his body had set in very firmly. He was about 5′ 5″, but the stroke literally shrunk him. His paralysis affected his capacity to groom well, and although he tried, my kids always said he smelled ‘like mustard’. Milt taught me that ‘most men are bastards’, and that ‘all women are beautiful because they have breasts’ – if they had a good rear end as well, then he would instantly fall in love with them. He was an OU grad, an avid baseball player in his youth, and a reformed alcoholic. He was also a natural born geologist, with a fierce love of science. It is hard to be witty when you feel a little sad. So forgive me for not being too clever today. Take a moment and think about someone that you have lost, and then make the most of a moment and call the ones who are still here. If there is a heaven, and if there really are angels, then Milt will be chasing the ones with the nice butts……………………….. later Jude
